View Desktop From The Windows Taskbar

Posted by admin under Knowledges, MS Windows, Tutorial on December 17th, 2008.

If you are like me, you probably have several programs running at once. That means that I can’t get at all those icons on the desktop without minimizing all of the windows, right? Wrong. There is an easy way to get at the desktop icons and you don’t have to download any utility programs to do it either.

Step 1
Click the right mouse button on the Windows taskbar. This will open a menu. Point to the word “Toolbars” and a sub-menu will open. You should have something similar to the image in

Step 2
If there is not a check next to the word Desktop, click on Desktop. If there is, you can just press the escape key because the Desktop toolbar is already selected. Now the right-hand side of your desktop will look like Figure 2.

Step 3
If you click on the double greater than sign (>>) a menu will open with an entry for every icon on your desktop. If you have folders on your desktop, you will be able to view their contents as a sub-menu. (See Figure 3.)

Step 4
To run any of the programs listed on the menu, just click them as you would the Start menu.
